Biographical Note

Kim Pernell is a first year Ph.D. candidate in Sociology. A native of Houston, Texas, she received her B.A. in Sociology from Beloit College. As an undergraduate, she researched Mexican immigrants' perception of the American dream and the effect of child gender on father involvement in physical care work (with Dr. Kathryn Linnenberg). In addition to her broader interests in social stratification, economic sociology, and inequality, she is currently interested in the effect of national culture and the structure of corporate regulatory mechanisms on the prevalence of corporate crime.
